A-Sha Mandarin Style Noodle With Onion Sauce
Description
These are "Mandarin Style noodles" that come with onion sauce. They are made by a company called A-sha, which has a very fancy website with a lot of detail where hey proudly display their sponsorships and support for various causes.
They trace their company history back to 1977 in Tianan, Tiawan with a recipe from 100 years ago.
They claim to deliver "the authentic taste of Taiwan to your doorstep". They have gained a lot of popularity in recent years.
They state that their noodles are air-dried in a secret process that takes over 18 hours. The noodles are still produced in Tianan.
I got these for half price for AUD$5.50.
Note: due to technical difficulties the photo of the packaging comes from their website.
Thoughts
This type of product is *all* about the quality of the noodles.
To their credit, the noodles are very good. They almost taste freshly handmade. They had a good bouncy texture and a nice look to them.
The onion sauce accompanying the noodles had a strong flavour and was deliberately portions to only slightly coat the noodles so as to not mask the quality of the noodles.
My feelings about these are mixed. Overall, I liked them. The value of these noodles is directly linked to how much you appreciate the difference between average and good noodles.
