Gloodles Mala Hot And Spicy
Description
Gloodles Mala Hot And Spicy are an Australian reseller of glass noodles that is trying to market itself as vegan, ecofriendly and guilt free.
Their eco-friendliness claim seems based on the product being vegan. By this standard nearly all instant noodles are eco-friendly.
There is no mention on their website that the packaging or products are responsibly sourced.
Their website, as a selling point, states: "No.1 Selling glass noodle in China" (which I think refers to the manufacturer).
The biodegradable packaging refers to it being made out of cardboard (does this also include the sauce packets?).
There is no manufacturing info on the packaging or site but I am reasonably certain they are a local branding of "Zhengwen noodles" officially known as "Anhui three brothers potato industry co., LTD".
I suggest this because their packaging and flavours are extremely similar.
This company actually seems very well put together and out of all the manufacturers I've researched this is the most organised with a great website that includes a proud display of their factory.
They are located in Xuancheng City, Anhui Province.
I think these retail at something ridiculous like AUD$6.00, I picked them up at a shelf-clearance price of 75c
Thoughts
So, after being prewarned about its spiciness, I only put in about a third of the sauce (which was more of a concentration then a sauce) and it was Still overpoweringly chilli.
For a while after, there was a numb sensation around my lips.
It was so spicy you couldn't really taste anything else but there is a very salty taste at the end of the bowl.
The noodles where gelatinous and unremarkable but fine.
The tofu skin and fried soy beans seemed ok but I couldn't really taste any of it.
I would have been dissapointed if i had purchased this at $5 but for 75c its good value.
