Wai Wai Tom Yum Shrimp Flavour Noodles
Description
These are tom yum flavoured noodles made by a Thia noodle company called Wai-Wai.
They are also made in Thailand where they have two factories.
Wikipedia states that the enterprise was started by seven families in 1972 an that it is still run by them.
Their Thia language site seems more focused with many more varieties presumably not for export.
These might also be the first explicitly halal noodles I have reviewed. I bought this individual packet for AUD$0.49c which is not much reduced from its regular price of AUD$0.79
Thoughts
I quite like the tom yum flavour.
I don't think it’s hard to condense the tom yum paste into instant noodle form, and they seem to have done an authentic job.
It was surprisingly spicy though (perhaps this is because I prepared it in a dry style).
The wheat noodles where cheap and unremarkable but fine.
For AUD$0.50 it's probably overpriced, but hey how low can they go?
